Jiu Jitsu Haus Professor Filipe Costa

Professor Filipe Costa

Filipe’s jiu-jitsu journey began at 16 years old back in Brasilia, Brazil under the well known Juquinha team. After his first Jiu Jitsu class, he fell in love with martial arts and decided that would be his career one day. He moved to the United States of America in April 2010, from Brasilia, Brazil to pursue his interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

After competing on the west coast for almost a year, he moved to Connecticut and has taught Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at four different martial arts studios for both children and adults. He received his black belt in November of 2014 under Rafael Formiga Barbosa (head of the Double Five association). His education and experience both in Brazil and in the United States of America have prepared him to inspire a positive team attitude. As well as training relationships with and between students while instructing classes for varying ages and skill levels in fitness and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

His experience as a competitor and referee has helped him develop the communication skills needed to motivate, coach, and mentor students. Whether a student is looking to compete internationally, or simply develop a better lifestyle, Filipe will take the time to individualize your training plan to help you achieve your personal goals. He looks forward to expanding the Jiu Jitsu community in Brewster, NY and around the world.
